JERUSALEM, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Israel and Azerbaijan signed here on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on artificial intelligence (AI).
The MoU was signed by Head of Israel's National AI Directorate Erez Eskel and Azerbaijan's Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev, in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, read a statement from Netanyahu's office.
The partnership will focus on high-performance computing infrastructure, and AI's application in critical civilian sectors, human capital development and joint research, the statement added.
Netanyahu said in the statement the MoU marked another step in strengthening ties between Israel and Azerbaijan and advancing Israel's goal of becoming a global leader in AI.
The agreement followed a joint declaration on AI cooperation signed last month between Israel and the United States. ■
