MEXICO CITY, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's Club America has reached an agreement to sign midfielder Raphael Veiga on loan from Palmeiras, both clubs said on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old Brazil international, who is contracted to Palmeiras until 2028, will be tied to the Liga MX club until the end of the year, with an option to buy.
"Welcome to America, Raphael Veiga. We'll see you on the pitch," the Mexico City-based side said on social media.
Veiga has made 379 appearances across all competitions for Palmeiras since his 2017 move from Coritiba. He has helped the Sao Paulo club win 11 trophies, including two Brazilian Serie A titles, two Copa Libertadores crowns and a Copa do Brasil triumph.
The playmaker thanked Palmeiras fans in a heartfelt social media post.
"I write this with a heavy heart, but grateful for everything that I have experienced here," he said. "If I could go back in time and tell my younger self that I would help Palmeiras win trophies, I wouldn't believe it." ■
