MOSCOW, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Russia's S7 Airlines will begin receiving 100 domestically produced Tu-214 medium-haul passenger aircraft starting in 2029, the company said Wednesday.

In a statement, the carrier said the planes will be customized to meet its operational requirements, with each aircraft designed to carry up to 213 passengers. The technical specifications and cabin layouts have already been approved by the parties involved, it added.

The Tu-214 is a Russian-made twin-engine passenger jet capable of flying up to 4,500 km. Aircraft for the S7 will undergo additional modifications to match the airline's technical and service standards.

The S7 Group, the United Aircraft Corporation, which is part of Russia's state-owned aviation giant Rostec, and the State Transport Leasing Company have signed a tripartite memorandum of cooperation to advance the project.

The parties plan to finalize binding contracts by the end of 2026, specifying exact delivery schedules, volumes and other key terms. The first aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2029.

S7 Airlines is one of Russia's largest private carriers, operating an extensive domestic route network with major hubs in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk.
