NOUAKCHOTT, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) concluded its 55th session on Tuesday in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, urging intensified efforts to end Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.

According to the Mauritanian News Agency, the Nouakchott Declaration, issued at the closing of the session, strongly condemned the "continued Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem," describing these actions as a "flagrant violation of international law."

Participants called on the international community to enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state. The declaration also welcomed the recognition of the State of Palestine by a majority of nations.

On broader global governance, the participants called for the launch of a "New Alliance of Virtue," an initiative to promote a "more just and equitable global order" and to enhance the role of the Islamic world in international decision-making mechanisms.

The declaration also warned against the dangers of "double standards" in international relations, noting that such practices threaten global peace and undermine trust in the international system.
