RIYADH, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- The fifth edition of the Saudi Media Forum opened on Monday in Riyadh under the theme "Media in an Evolving World," drawing more than 300 media leaders and experts from over 20 countries.

The forum features more than 150 sessions examining the role of media across politics, the economy, culture, and technology, with participation from regional and international think tanks.

Running alongside the forum is the Future of Media Exhibition, which includes more than 250 local and international companies. Exhibitors include China's leading news outlets and technology firms.

Companies such as Unilumin Group and consumer electronics maker Hisense are showcasing display, broadcasting, and audiovisual technologies, attracting interest from regional media professionals and visitors.

Speaking at the opening, Saudi Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said media institutions bear an unavoidable responsibility toward younger generations, particularly in the digital age.

Protecting future generations, he said, should focus on building ethical and values-based media environments rather than isolation or prohibition, enabling young people to engage confidently with the world while preserving their identity.

The forum and the accompanying exhibition will remain open to the public through Wednesday.
