JERUSALEM, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- More than 1,500 athletes from 16 countries and regions took part on Friday in the annual Israman triathlon, featuring iron and half-iron distance races in and around the Red Sea in Israel's southern resort city of Eilat.
The full iron-distance race comprised a 3.8-kilometer swim, a 180-km bike leg, and a 42.2-km marathon run.
Israel's Almog Elazzary claimed the men's title in eight hours, 47 minutes and 57 seconds, while compatriot Antonina Reznikov won the women's race in 11:57:04. Both champions earned 5,000 euros in prize money.
In the half-iron event, Germany's Marcel Bolbat took the men's title in 4:13:36, and Israel's Hadas Mazar won the women's race in 5:33:25. ■
