MANILA, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the sinking of a passenger and cargo vessel in the southern Philippines has risen to 31 after two more bodies were recovered on Friday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
At least 316 people have been rescued, the PCG added.
The PCG said the search operations continue, while an investigation is underway to determine the exact number of missing individuals.
The M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 was en route to Jolo Island in Sulu province from Zamboanga City when it sank on Monday off Baluk-Baluk Island in Hadji Muhtamad, a municipality in the Sulu Sea. ■
