KABUL, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have discovered a huge quantity of arms, including three pieces of the assault rifles AK-47, in the eastern Logar province, spokesman for the provincial police office, Mawlawi Ahmadullah Anas, said Thursday.
The weaponry, which included three pieces of AK-47, nine pistols and six firearms, was discovered and seized from the provincial capital Pul-e-Alam and adjoining districts recently, the official added.
Without mentioning the exact number of those arrested for carrying arms illegally, the official added that police had detained some individuals on charges of keeping and carrying arms illegally and would hand them over to the judiciary for further investigation. ■
