BEIRUT, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon received on Thursday the first batch of a Qatari donation to the Lebanese army consisting of several military vehicles, state media reported.
The aid was officially received at a ceremony at the Logistics Brigade headquarters in Kfarchima, a town southeast of Beirut, attended by the Qatari and U.S. ambassadors to Lebanon, as well as senior Lebanese military representatives, according to the official National News Agency.
The donation is part of a series of assistance provided by Qatari authorities, aimed at meeting part of the army's needs and supporting its efforts to preserve Lebanon's security and stability, Lebanese officials said during the ceremony.
Qatari Ambassador Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting Lebanon and strengthening bilateral relations. He emphasized continued backing for the Lebanese army, recognizing its vital role in national security, adding that Qatari assistance initiatives would persist. ■
