MILAN, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Sweden's freestyle skiing team has suffered a major setback ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, with mogul skiers Filip Gravenfors and Robin Olgaard both ruled out due to injuries sustained during the final phase of their preparations.

Gravenfors broke his collarbone after crashing during a training session in Ruka, Finland, forcing him to miss the Olympic Games.

The 25-year-old had been enjoying a strong season and entered into the Olympic period in excellent form. After finishing third overall in the World Cup standings last season, he recorded two podium finishes this winter, making him one of Sweden's strongest medal hopes in moguls.

Earlier this month, Olgaard, 22, also saw his Olympic hopes come to an end. Shortly after being nominated for the Games, he suffered a serious knee injury following a crash at the World Cup event in Val St Come, Canada, which ended his season.

Both athletes were regarded as key members of the Swedish freestyle squad heading into the Olympic competitions in Livigno, and their absence represents a significant loss for the team.
