BEIRUT, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese army said Thursday it received a shipment of food aid from Jordan.

The assistance arrived via the Masnaa border crossing in eastern Lebanon and was received at the logistics department in Kfarchima in the presence of Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Al-Hadid, and a representative of Lebanese Army Commander Rodolphe Haykal, the Lebanese Army Command said in a statement.

The commander's representative expressed gratitude for the aid, describing it as part of Jordan's continued support for the Lebanese armed forces.

The delivery coincided with a meeting between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Jordanian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Yousef Huneiti. During the meeting, Huneiti reaffirmed Jordan's commitment, under the direction of King Abdullah II, to continue providing the Lebanese Army with equipment and training to support its operational capabilities.

The aid and reiterated support reflect the strong bilateral ties and ongoing military cooperation between the two countries, according to the Lebanese news website Elnashra.
