TEHRAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Wednesday cautioned against the dangers of rising tensions in West Asia, Iran's foreign ministry said.

The two diplomats reviewed Tuesday's "fruitful" phone call between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, emphasizing the shared responsibility of regional states to maintain stability and security, the ministry added.

Also on Wednesday, Araghchi spoke with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, stressing the need for diplomatic solutions and ongoing political consultations among key regional players, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

The exchanges come as the United States bolsters its military presence in the region. On Monday, U.S. Central Command announced the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to the Middle East. On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump called on Tehran to return to nuclear negotiations, warning that a "massive armada" was moving toward Iranian waters.

Iran, however, rejected any talks with Washington while it continues to threaten military action. The country has reiterated that its missile program and defense capabilities are non-negotiable and warned that any aggression would be met with a "comprehensive and regret-inducing response."
