BEIRUT, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani has met with Denmark's Ambassador to Lebanon Kristoffer Vivike, who led a delegation involved in Danish development programs supporting the development of Lebanon's agricultural sector, local media reported Wednesday.

During the meeting, they discussed a strategic development project with an aim of rebuilding agricultural sector in areas in southern Lebanon affected by Israeli attacks and with a total value of 28 million U.S. dollars, according to Lebanon's state-run National News Agency (NNA).

Of the total funding, Denmark will contribute 5 million dollars, while the remaining will be provided by the EU and the French Development Agency, the NNA reported.

Hani said the project represents a strategic step in restoring the agricultural sector in the south and reflects international partners' commitment to supporting Lebanon during the recovery phase.

Vivike reaffirmed Denmark's long-term commitment to supporting Lebanon's agricultural sector through partnerships that strengthen rural communities' resilience and recovery.

Separately, Lebanon's General Directorate of General Security announced Wednesday the arrest of a four-member Turkish drug trafficking network at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport.
