MELBOURNE, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's Wang Xinyu upset 13th seed Linda Noskova on Saturday in a match disrupted by severe heat in Melbourne as she powered into the Australian Open's last 16 for the first time in her career.

Wang continued her aggressive form in the tournament to record a 7-5, 6-4 win in one hour and 27 minutes of playing time, meaning China will be represented in the last 16.

"It's amazing. I feel like I have so much support here. It was tough but I'm really happy to win," Wang said.

Wang, the world No.46, is China's highest-ranked player in Melbourne after Zheng Qinwen, a former Australian Open finalist, withdrew ahead of the tournament.

Wang has lived up to top billing on the back of reaching her second career final with a runner-up finish to Elina Svitolina in Auckland.

The 24-year-old had to do it the hard way after the match was suspended at 2-2 in the opening set due to intense heat in Melbourne.

After a long delay lasting several hours, Wang came out blazing in the cooler conditions and won three games in a row to claim a hard-fought first set.

She kept the foot on the pedal with a break early in the second set only to fend off a fightback from Noskova.

But Wang was not to be denied and she clinched one of the best wins of her career when Noskova hit a forehand into the net.

Wang next plays fourth seed Amanda Anisimova.
