VLADIVOSTOK, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- A Boeing 747 plane carrying more than 330 passengers was forced to abort takeoff on Thursday in Magadan, a city in Russia's Far East, due to a technical malfunction.

According to RIA Novosti, the aircraft was preparing for a flight from Magadan to Moscow when a strong gust of wind affected its left engine during the takeoff run, causing an engine surge. No injuries were reported.

The Magadan-Moscow flight has been rescheduled for the following day.

The regional transport prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into compliance with aviation safety regulations. The interregional territorial office of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency also participated in the inquiry.
