BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted Volcano Islands, Japan at 1637 GMT on Wednesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 23.07 degrees north latitude and 142.86 degrees east longitude. ■
