TIANJIN, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- The northern section of the first phase of Tianjin Rail Transit Line Z4 began operations on Sunday.

The newly opened section spans 23.7 kilometers with 10 stations. Upon completion, the full Phase 1 line will cover a total length of 43.7 kilometers with 24 stations.
As a backbone line linking the northern and southern parts of the Binhai New Area with its core district, the Z4 line is expected to play a vital role in optimizing the regional rail system and promoting integration.
