ACCRA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's women's national team has been drawn into Group D of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, following the final draw held Thursday in Rabat, Morocco.
The Black Queens will face Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde in the group stage.
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said the team's recent performances have prepared them for the challenge.
"The Black Queens should be able to play against any side on the African continent if you want to become a champion," Simeon-Okraku said after the draw. "On the back of the fact that Ghana were third at the last WAFCON, Ghana should be ready to face any opponent."
The Women's Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, and will also serve as a qualifier for the FIFA Women's World Cup.
A semifinal finish will secure World Cup qualification, a goal Ghana has been chasing since 2007. ■
