PHNOM PENH, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) secretariat officials convened a meeting on Thursday morning to enforce a recent ceasefire, said a Cambodian defense spokesperson.
Held at the Choam-Sa Ngam International Point of Entry in Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey province, the meeting was co-chaired by military officials from Cambodia and Thailand.
"Both sides held discussions on a number of important matters concerning the strengthening of the implementation of the contents of the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on Dec. 27, 2025, as well as other relevant documents," Maly Socheata, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defense, said in a press release.
She said Cambodia reaffirmed its firm, resolute, and sincere commitment to faithfully respect and implement the joint statement and other relevant documents, with the aim of seeking a peaceful, just, and lasting solution in accordance with international laws and existing treaties and agreements between the two countries.
Cambodia and Thailand agreed to an immediate ceasefire on Dec. 27, 2025, after three weeks of armed conflict, which caused casualties on both sides. ■
