BEIRUT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon and Jordan on Wednesday signed 21 agreements and memoranda of understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
The signing followed the 8th session of the Lebanese-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, co-chaired by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and his Jordanian counterpart Jafar Hassan in Beirut, Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The signed documents cover fields including industry, energy, transport, education, tourism and investment, among others, aiming to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties, the NNA reported.
At a joint press conference, Salam described the bilateral ties as "stable and not seasonal," adding that both sides had agreed to continue coordination and ensure the practical implementation of the signed documents, the NNA reported.
Hassan, for his part, reaffirmed Jordan's steadfast support for Lebanon and expressed hope for future growth in bilateral trade.
He also emphasized the importance of consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza and achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, the NNA reported. ■
