ISLAMABAD, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces killed four terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of the country's southwest Balochistan province, military said on Wednesday night.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement that the operation was launched on Monday following reports about the presence of militants in the area.
During the operation, security personnel engaged the suspected hideout, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which four terrorists were killed.
"Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site," said the military, adding that the slain terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities in the area.
The ISPR said that the security forces had also conducted clearance operations in the region to eliminate any remaining militants in the vicinity.
The military said that the country's counterterrorism campaign will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. ■
