BEIRUT, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan on Thursday reaffirmed his country's support for Lebanon's security, sovereignty, and state institutions during talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut.
The meeting followed the 8th session of the Lebanese-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, co-chaired by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Hassan on Wednesday. The session resulted in the signing of 21 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering industry, energy, transport, education, tourism, and investment, aimed at strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Aoun expressed gratitude for Jordan's ongoing support to Lebanon, particularly assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces. He said the agreements reflected the "deep bonds of brotherhood and cooperation" between the two countries.
Aoun also emphasized the importance of Arab unity in addressing regional challenges, calling for a unified stance on issues such as the Palestinian cause. Both sides affirmed the need to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and restore Palestinian rights, and ensure Syria's security and stability, which they noted is vital for the region and for advancing joint projects. ■
