ATHENS, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Greece on Wednesday condemned recent drone attacks on civilian ships of Greek interests in the Black Sea, warning that such incidents endanger the safety of crews and pose risks to the marine environment.

"We condemn the attacks on civilian ships of Greek interests," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lana Zohiou said at a briefing for diplomatic correspondents. She noted that information from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs confirmed that two Greek nationals were among the crew of one of the vessels and that no injuries were reported.

Zohiou stressed that Greece, as a maritime nation, attaches particular importance to maritime security and remains committed to international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. She added that the Greek foreign minister would raise the issue with European partners.

According to official information, two Greek-managed tankers -- the MT Matilda and the MT Delta Harmony -- were confirmed to have been targeted by drones while heading toward the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in the Black Sea.

The circumstances of the attacks remain under investigation, and no party has claimed responsibility.
