BANGKOK, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has set a target to increase revenue from foreign film productions by at least 10 percent in 2026, building upon a record-breaking performance in the previous year, the Department of Tourism said on Wednesday.

The Southeast Asian country welcomed more than 546 international film productions in 2025, generating a record high of over 7.717 billion baht (about 246.944 million U.S. dollars) in circulating revenue, said the department's Director-General Jaturon Phakdeewanit.

In a statement, Jaturon attributed this success to the kingdom's potential in terms of diverse filming locations, workforce readiness, infrastructure, and internationally recognized support systems.

The department aims to continuously increase revenue from foreign productions by focusing on proactive strategies, fostering cooperation with relevant agencies, and upgrading Thailand to be a competitive "Film-Friendly Destination" on the global stage, the official noted.
