MELBOURNE, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Zhu Lin, Bai Zhuoxuan, Yuan Yue and Wu Yibing are one win away from playing in the main singles draw at the Australian Open after winning their second round qualifying matches at Melbourne Park on Wednesday.
Zhu, currently ranked 163rd in the world, beat Andorran ninth seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 6-1 and 6-2 in one hour and 13 minutes to advance to the third and final round in the women's singles qualifying tournament.
With the first set level at 1-1, Zhu won nine of the next 10 games to take control in a dominant performance.
In a similar manner, Bai won four consecutive games in the first set and six in a row in the second to defeat France's Chloe Paquet 6-1 and 6-2.
Bai hit 14 winners for the match, 10 of which were on her forehand, compared to two for Paquet, and converted all six break point opportunities that she had.
In a three-set epic, 25th seed Yuan staged a comeback in the deciding set to beat Maria Lourdes Carle 7-6 (5), 3-6 and 6-4 in three hours and two minutes.
Trailing 4-2 in the third set, Yuan won four games in a row to close out the match on her second match point.
Playing against Nicolas Mejia, Wu broke serve four times in a 6-4 and 6-4 victory in one hour and 44 minutes to reach the third round of the men's singles qualifiers.
While Wu and Mejia won a similar proportion of points on their first serves, Wu was able to win 63 percent of points on his second serve compared to 27 percent for the Colombian.
In an earlier match on the same court, Ma Yexin was knocked out of qualifying by Elvina Kalieva.
Ma had a break point for a 5-4 lead that would have given her an opportunity to serve for the first set, but missed her backhand as Kalieva won five straight games to claim the 6-4 and 6-2 win.
Zhu will play Canada's Marina Stakusic in her third qualifying match on Thursday, with Bai and Yuan to face Darja Vidmanova and Tamara Zidansek respectively. In the men's draw, Wu will play Tristan Boyer. ■
