AMMAN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Philadelphia University in Jordan on Monday held a celebration to mark the 2026 Chinese Spring Festival, highlighting cultural ties between China and Jordan.

Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei and university President Abdullah Al Jarrah attended the event alongside faculty and students.

In his remarks, Guo described the Spring Festival as China's most important traditional holiday, symbolizing family reunion, renewal, and hope.

Al Jarrah praised Jordan-China relations as a model of mutual respect, particularly in education and culture, highlighting the university's ongoing partnership with the Chinese Embassy and the Confucius Institute.

The celebration featured a traditional Chinese clothing, or Hanfu, fashion show, comedy skits, poetry recitations, and songs performed by Jordanian students, showcasing their growing proficiency in the Chinese language and their cultural understanding.

Dima Al Malahmeh, the Jordanian director of the university's Confucius Institute, said the institute has celebrated the Chinese New Year annually since its establishment in 2012 to promote the Chinese language and culture among youth.
