BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted Northwest of Kuril Islands at 0152 GMT on Monday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 404.9 km, was initially determined to be at 47.51 degrees north latitude and 147.45 degrees east longitude. ■
