In 2022, Dr. Sanaka Kamran from Pakistan arrived in China as a senior visiting scholar in interventional oncology at Beijing Cancer Hospital. Through the Belt and Road Initiative, she has forged deep bonds with her Chinese colleagues, co-authoring her own inspiring “OT room story.”
Scholars like Dr. Kamran are far from rare at Beijing Cancer Hospital, a leading Chinese oncology institution. In recent years, the hospital has accelerated its internationalization, attracting clinical and research talent through advanced interventional techniques and innovative approaches to cancer care.
Looking ahead, Dr. Kamran plans to share her knowledge with colleagues in Pakistan and promote stronger bilateral medical cooperation. “The more we collaborate internationally, the greater the benefits for both patients and doctors,” she said, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary and cross-border approaches in oncology.
