MANILA -- A retired Air Force general of the Philippines, who was arrested on Monday over his alleged role in an anti-government destabilization plot, was freed a few hours later after posting bail of 48,000 pesos (about 2,663 U.S. dollars), authorities and his lawyer have said.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia on Monday re-proposed to Thailand to convene a special meeting on border demarcation in the second or third week of January in Cambodia's Siem Reap province, said a press release from Cambodia's State Secretariat of Border Affairs.
The Cambodian side has once again requested the Thai side, through a Note Verbale dated Jan. 5, 2026, to convene a special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Joint Boundary Commission in the second or third week of January 2026 in Siem Reap province, it said. (Cambodia-Thailand-Ties)

JAKARTA -- The death toll from flash floods and landslides in the eastern Indonesian province of North Sulawesi early Monday has risen to nine, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said.
