BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brunei recorded a total of 28,776 cruise ship passengers in 2025 from 11 cruise ship arrivals, marking a significant increase compared to 17,860 passengers in 2024, Brunei's Tourism Development Department said on Tuesday.
Building on the positive momentum achieved in 2025, the department said Brunei is looking ahead to an encouraging cruise tourism outlook in 2026, with an estimated 24 cruise ship arrivals scheduled throughout the year.
According to the department, feedback received from cruise passengers throughout the 2025 season has been overwhelmingly positive.
A range of shore excursions was organised for cruise passengers, offering immersive opportunities to explore Brunei's cultural highlights. A key feature was a visit to the water village, or locally known as "Kampong Ayer."
The excursions also included visits to the Royal Regalia Museum and scenic landmarks around the capital, providing passengers with a well-rounded introduction to Brunei's heritage, culture, and way of life. ■
