BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin will pay an official visit to China on Jan. 4-8 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Born in 1960 in Cork, Ireland, Martin graduated from University College Cork and has since held several government positions, including minister for education, minister for health, minister for enterprise, trade and employment and minister for foreign affairs. He has been the leader of the Fianna Fail party since 2011.
He assumed the Irish premiership in June 2020, and became Irish deputy prime minister in December 2022. In January 2025, Martin reassumed the permiership. ■
