TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people have been killed and two remain missing following floods and blizzards in several Iranian provinces over the past four days, said the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) on Wednesday.
In a statement published on its website, the IRCS said the victims were from the provinces of West Azarbaijan, North Khorasan, Khuzestan, Kurdestan and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad. Rescuers were searching for the two missing individuals in the provinces of Khuzestan and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.
The IRCS added that its teams had provided rescue and relief services to 25,806 people in areas affected by heavy rainfall and snow in 28 provinces, having transferred 21 wounded to medical centers.
Heavy rainfall and snow have swept through most parts of Iran since Sunday, causing floods and the blockage of intercity roads. ■
