BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- China-U.S. ties are among the most important bilateral relations in the world today, and the strategic choices of the two countries shape the course of world history, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday.
China and the United States must seek solutions to their respective concerns on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit, and find the right way to get along with each other, said Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, when addressing a symposium on the international situation and China's foreign relations in 2025.
Over the past year, China has maintained firm and clear positions on major issues of principle, and stood its ground resolutely in the face of any challenges to China's core interests, he said.
Meanwhile, China has conducted exchanges and sought cooperation with the U.S. side, urging the latter to see China in a rational and objective light, and seeking to resolve differences through consultation and dialogue, he added.
Wang noted that developments in China-U.S. relations over the past year show that whether the two sides can uphold mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation is key to whether bilateral ties can develop stably and benefit the world.
China and the United States stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation, he stressed, adding that an arrogant and condescending attitude is not viable, and inconsistency between words and deeds is not advisable. ■
