LONDON, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A man involved in a two-vehicle collision on Sunday was shot dead by Norfolk police after he was believed to be holding a handgun, Norfolk Constabulary said in a statement on Monday.
Police were called to London Road in Thetford at around 8:25 p.m. on Sunday. Armed response officers attended the scene, and the suspect was subsequently shot by police a short distance away, said the statement. Despite efforts by emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As is standard procedure in such circumstances, the force has notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which has launched an investigation, said the Norfolk Constabulary. ■
