MANILA, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A sports utility vehicle (SUV) plunged into a ravine in Mountain Province on Luzon island, killing a woman and injuring five others, local police said Monday.
Police said the SUV was traveling along a winding road in Bontoc when it veered off the roadway and fell into a 20-meter-deep ravine on Sunday evening. The vehicle landed upside down on a rice field at the bottom of the ravine.
The Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said five injured passengers were extracted from the scene and rushed to a local hospital.
Local authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. ■
