HOHHOT, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2025 Alxa Camel Super League kicked off on Saturday in Alxa League, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a new addition to the region's winter tourism offerings.
The Camel Super League, running from December 2025 to March 2026 across three locations in Alxa, features a variety of events, including camel relay races, long-distance races, camel polo, and archery on camel back, alongside traditional skill competitions and a camel beauty pageant.
The opening ceremony and the first round of competitions attracted 24 teams, with over a thousand camels competing.
"We aim to promote both camel culture and camel-related products through the Camel Super League, while creating a new signature attraction for Alxa's winter tourism," said Arong, general manager of Alxa League Cultural Tourism Investment and Development Co., Ltd.
Participant Guo Jianming brought more than ten camels from Gansu Province. "I've been training them for over a month and hope to achieve good results," said Guo.
Herder Duulgen from Ejina Banner and his camel finished fifth in the camel relay. Although the 35-year-old was not satisfied with the result, he still has three more events ahead.
"Out of my herd of over 100 camels, I selected six for this competition, four for racing and two for the beauty contest," Duulgen said. "It's a lot of fun to take part, and it's also a chance to exchange experiences with other herders." ■
