MACAO, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The unemployment rate in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) remained stable in the September-November period of 2025, its Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) said on Friday.

Figures showed that the general unemployment rate stood at 1.7 percent, while the unemployment rate of local residents was 2.3 percent, unchanged from the previous period of August-October.

The survey also indicated a modest increase in underemployment. The general underemployment rate edged up by 0.1 percentage points to 1.5 percent, while the underemployment rate of local residents increased by 0.2 percentage points to 2.0 percent. Of the 5,900 underemployed residents, the majority were employed in real estate and business activities, transport and storage, and retail trade.

The employment survey covers all residential units in the Macao Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane, excluding collective living quarters such as dormitories and elderly care homes, the DSEC said.
