KABUL, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Nine major electricity transmission and distribution projects in western Afghanistan's Herat province were inaugurated and officially put into operation on Thursday, a government statement said.
According to the statement, the projects, implemented at a total cost of 3.98 billion afghanis (over 60 million U.S. dollars), are designed to strengthen the province's power infrastructure and improve access to reliable electricity for both residents and businesses.
Among the key projects is the Pul-e-Hashimi substation, which is expected to play a vital role in enhancing electricity transmission and distribution capacity across the province, the statement added.
The completion and commissioning of these projects mark an important step toward boosting energy security, supporting economic activities, and promoting sustainable development in the region. ■
