HANOI, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam cleared nearly 188,000 hectares of land contaminated by landmines and unexploded ordnance from 2021 to 2025, reducing the total affected area nationwide to 5.57 million hectares, the Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.
During the period, 21 clearance projects were effectively implemented, including 11 carried out in cooperation with the United States, Japan, South Korea and Norway, and 10 funded domestically, the report said.
It is estimated that about 800,000 tons of explosives were left across Vietnam after the wars. ■
