GAZA, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were killed on Monday by Israeli army fire in the Gaza Strip, raising the death toll since a ceasefire in the territory took effect on Oct. 10 to 407, Palestinian medical sources said.

According to the sources, the two Palestinians were shot while trying to return to their homes in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on the incident.

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 70,937 Palestinians and injured 171,192 others. Since the ceasefire took effect in October, 407 people have been killed and 1,115 wounded, according to Gaza-based health authorities.

Meanwhile, the Hamas-run media office said in a press statement that Israel has committed 875 violations of the ceasefire since it took effect.

The office also accused Israel of failing to deliver even the minimum agreed quantities of aid. Only 17,819 trucks entered Gaza during the 73-day period, compared with 43,800 stipulated under the agreement -- an average of 244 trucks per day instead of 600, the office said.
