RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will meet rising Brazilian star Joao Fonseca in an exhibition duel next December, organizers said on Monday.
The match will be played on December 12, 2026, at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo, the home of Brazilian football club Palmeiras.
"It will be a pleasure to welcome you to Brazil, Carlitos," Fonseca said in a social media post.
Six-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz and 24th-ranked Fonseca have never met on the ATP tour but played an exhibition game in Miami earlier this month, which the Spaniard won 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.
"After the incredible experience we had in Miami, I am very happy to be able to play another exhibition alongside Carlos Alcaraz, now in Brazil," said 19-year-old Fonseca, who won the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires and the ATP 500 in Basel in his first year as a professional.
"Playing at home, in front of my fans, and sharing the court with one of the biggest names in world sport, the world number one, is very important to me and also for the public. And I hope that this time the match goes my way." ■
