JERUSALEM, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Israel's civil aviation recorded a recovery in 2025, according to an annual report issued by the Israel Airports Authority on Tuesday.
The report estimated approximately 18.4 million passengers traveled through Ben Gurion International Airport on international flights this year, a 33 percent increase compared to 2024, with the figure expected to reach 22 million in 2026.
Aircraft movements also rose, with about 134,000 flights recorded, up 32 percent from the previous year.
International airlines gradually resumed operations after suspending flights during Israel's multi-front conflict, with 60 foreign carriers resuming services in the country.
The most popular destinations for travelers from Israel included Greece, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and Cyprus.
Israeli airlines continued to dominate the market, as El Al, Arkia, and Israir together carried 58 percent of all passengers. Hungary-based low-cost carrier Wizz Air was the leading foreign airline.
Passenger traffic also increased at Haifa Airport in the north, where the new Israeli airline Air Haifa began operating about a year ago, and at Ramon Airport near the Red Sea resort city of Eilat.
At the Taba border crossing with Egypt, passenger numbers rose by 56 percent to 960,000.
The two crossings between Israel and Jordan saw a 43 percent year-on-year increase in total, while traffic at the Israel-Jordan-controlled crossing between the West Bank and Jordan saw a 6 percent decrease. ■
