BEIJING, Dec. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The 10th Beijing International Art Biennale (BIAB) will open in Beijing, capital of China, on Dec. 29 and run through Jan. 28, 2026, as announced during a press conference held Monday.

Themed "Coexistence," this year's BIAB will present nearly 600 artworks by artists from around 120 countries and regions, spanning painting, sculpture, digital art, video, installation and other artistic forms.

Qu Jian, executive vice chairman of the China Artists Association, highlighted that the exhibition will focus on the topics of peaceful development, ecological civilization, and technological ethics, fostering international dialogue and showcasing both traditional and contemporary artistic innovations.

One of the highlights is the international digital art exhibition curated by Fei Jun, professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and his team, Qu added. Featuring nearly 50 artists, this special exhibition will explore human-machine collaboration in the digital era through AI art, immersive imagery, and virtual reality.

Another key feature is the contemporary Serbian art exhibition, Qu added. This exhibition will showcase 32 works from 19 artists, exploring themes of sustainable development and peaceful dialogue in today's world.

On the sidelines of this year's event, the First International Art Conference of BIAB will be held from Dec. 29 to 30, bringing together around 50 art theorists, curators, artists, and museum professionals from across the world to discuss the future of art in a rapidly changing era.

Jointly organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Beijing Municipal Committee, and the China Artists Association, the BIAB marks its 10th edition this year. Since its debut in 2002, the biennale has evolved into a key platform for international artistic exchange and dialogue.

"The BIAB not only fosters dialogue between civilizations but also highlights the capital's cultural image and China as one of the leaders in contemporary art, telling the stories of Beijing, China, and the world," Qu said.
