KABUL, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- At least six passengers were killed and 42 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus lost control and slid on an icy section of highway in northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province early Sunday, local police reported.
The mishap occurred on the Salang highway, a key route linking the capital Kabul to northern provinces, due to reckless driving, provincial police spokesman Mawlawi Shir Ahmad Burhani told Xinhua.
"Six passengers were killed and 42 others injured, including two women and two children," Burhani said.
All the injured have been transferred to Baghlan provincial hospital for treatment, according to the official. ■
