CAIRO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met on Sunday in Cairo with Masrour Barzani, prime minister of Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), to discuss relations and economic cooperation.
According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's firm and unwavering support for Iraq's unity and territorial integrity. He said Egypt backs Iraq's efforts to confront regional challenges, particularly terrorism, and praised the high level of ongoing security cooperation between the two sides.
Al-Sisi also commended the efforts of both the Iraqi federal government and the KRG authorities to promote stability and peace in the region.
For his part, Barzani called for further strengthening cooperation with Egyptian institutions across various sectors.
The meeting also addressed prospects for expanding economic cooperation. Al-Sisi highlighted the strong capabilities of Egyptian companies, especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors, noting that the Iraqi side could benefit from their expertise in implementing projects with "high quality and competitive costs." ■
