BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted Balleny Islands Region at 0657 GMT on Saturday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 63.79 degrees south latitude and 172.47 degrees east longitude. ■
