China holds South Korea in EAFF U15 Championship

FUZHOU, China, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- China secured a 1-1 draw against South Korea on Saturday in the second Group A match of the 2025 East Asian Football Federation U15 Championship.

The match was played in Zhangzhou, southeastern China's Fujian Province. Both teams entered the match following defeats in their opening games. China lost 3-0 to Japan, while South Korea fell 2-0 to Hong Kong, China.

China broke the deadlock in the 28th minute after midfielder Wu Bile was fouled in the box. Defender Pan Chaowei stepped up and converted the penalty to put the hosts ahead.

South Korea equalized in the 42nd minute through substitute Choi Jun-hyeok, who headed in from a corner. The visitors nearly took the lead in the 66th minute when another header from a corner struck the post, but China's substitute goalkeeper Chen Chengyun collected the rebound.

Neither side could find a winner, leaving both teams winless in the tournament.

In other Group A action, Japan defeated Hong Kong, China 2-0. In Group B, Macao, China beat the Northern Mariana Islands 2-0 and Chinese Taipei overpowered Guam 6-0.

China will face Hong Kong, China in its final group match on Monday.
