MINSK, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Thursday that the Oreshnik missile systems have been set up in Belarus and they are about to begin combat alert duty.
In an address to the parliament, Lukashenko emphasized domestic production within the armed forces, highlighting the establishment of a Belarusian school of missile construction and the organization of local production of small arms and ammunition.
The Oreshnik, a hypersonic missile, is capable of reaching high speeds, according to media reports. ■
