YANGON, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has planted over 122 million trees nationwide between 2021 and 2025, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation on Tuesday.

Over 20 million trees are planted annually through joint efforts by the ministry, private organizations and the public, Zin Mar Tun, deputy permanent secretary of the ministry, told Xinhua.

Tree-planting activities are mostly carried out in the Ayeyarwady, Bago, Magway and Mandalay regions, she said.

The official emphasized the many advantages of cultivating trees, including maintaining weather conditions and creating a healthy ecosystem, and said that tree-planting activities are carried out every year.

She urged the public to actively participate in preserving planted trees, noting that broad public involvement is essential for the long-term success of greening efforts.
