BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- As the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) is set to approach a successful conclusion, the annual Central Economic Work Conference, held recently, mapped out China's priorities for economic work for the year ahead.

The conference outlined policy directions ranging from boosting domestic demand, adopting more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, fostering new quality productive forces according to local conditions, pursuing innovation-driven growth to advancing the green transition, with a view to ensure a solid start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

The key meeting demonstrates that despite external challenges and domestic complexities, China remains committed to high-quality growth, unwavering opening up, and reform, signaling its resolve to deliver certainty to a world grappling with persistent volatility.

Despite mounting pressures from escalating global trade tensions and domestic cyclical and structural headwinds, the Chinese economy gained steady momentum in 2025, growing 5.2 percent year on year in the first three quarters, keeping it firmly on track to meet its annual growth target of around 5 percent.

International organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have recently upgraded their growth forecasts for China, citing notable resilience and key moves to bolster consumption-led growth.

Even as China's economy faces headwinds, global experts remain optimistic about its long-term trajectory and express confidence that China's solid economic fundamentals, robust domestic market, constant industrial and technological advancements, sufficient policy tools, the ongoing green transition, and the deepening of reforms across the board, among others, will not only sustain its growth momentum but also create more opportunities for the world.
